Airbrush Artist, Gregg McPherson, was born in Montreal to West Indian parents. He was always artistic throughout school and was often recognized for it.
His love for the art of airbrushing began in 1991 when a friend introduced him to the airbrush. He was showed the mechanics of the gun and was left to discover more about it. As a teenager he was always painting clothing, in particular jeans, using fabric paints and a tooth pick, therefore when he discovered that the airbrush would make the job more accurate and created a better design he ensured that he mastered the art.
He furthered his career by successfully pursuing a Diploma in Graphic Design which proved to be an asset in the development of his artistic skills and design creativity.
Gregg then moved to Barbados, having always pursued his airbrushing on a part time basis he was then able to focus on it there as a full time career. He painted residential and commercial murals, custom clothing for individuals and groups, banners and automotive. He was also an Airbrush Tutor at a local Community Centre funded by the Barbados Government, where students of different ages with no airbrushing experience developed their skills in the art form.
His creativity is extensive but one of his specialties is t-shirt portraits, having done work for the likes of Beenie Man, Black Chiney DJ, Mad Cobra and Rihanna, his pieces have been described as very life like and a true representation of the subject. He is often described as a perfectionist as he will not sign off on a piece unless he is 100% satisfied with the result and so is his client.
Now residing in Toronto he is fully settled and promoting himself and his art work. With his North American birth right coupled with his Jamaican and Barbadian heritage he appreciates the hip hop, reggae and calypso and is able to relate to a wide cross section of the general public. He felt that Toronto was the place to market himself and show Canada what he has to offer. His work can be found on clothing for adults and kids, murals from home décor to school walls, automotive helmets and car hoods and even shoes. His clients live across Canada spanning from Toronto to Montreal, out west to Winnipeg and as far as Edmonton.
Gregg is extremely dedicated to his work and can always be found airbrushing, drawing or creating his own designs. He loves to read any magazines about airbrushing or watch airbrush videos to ensure that he is up to date with any new techniques. He is inspired by his personal drive to be the best that he can be and likes to network with others who are also passionate about airbrushing.
Gregg’s future aspirations are to become a well known Airbrush Artist, known for the quality of his work, and to launch his own urban clothing line.
